THE ABYSS KEEPS
RECEIPTS.
Historical records indicate more than 200,000 drums of radioactive waste were dumped in the Northeast Atlantic from 1950–1990. The 2025 NODSSUM campaign mapped 3,355 drums. Across twenty 2026 dives below 4,700 meters, scientists directly inspected several drums and observed that some had spilled contents; laboratory analysis continues, so sitewide inventory, source terms, transport and ecological effects are not yet closed.
You will pilot a simplified field-cell proxy combining the proposed A01-D Surveyor and R01-D Abyssal Rovalizer. A real mission would likely separate free-ranging survey from tethered work. At ~483 bar, both are new machine programs—not cosmetic modifications.
